Ford F-150 Maintenance Schedule
Caring for your Ford F-150 doesn’t have to be intimidating. With help from Norm Reeves Ford and the Ford F-150 maintenance schedule below, you can extend the lifespan of your truck and maintain its Built Ford Tough performance as you drive throughout Los Angeles, Long Beach, and Downey.
What Is the Ford F-150 Maintenance Schedule?
Below is a breakdown of the service appointments recommended by the Ford F-150 maintenance schedule.
First Appointment
The first service that Ford recommends for your F-150 is after one year or 10,000 miles. During this appointment, our experts will change the oil and filter and inspect and rotate the tires. We’ll also perform a multi-point inspection and inspect the following parts:
- Brake system
- Cooling system and hoses
- Exhaust system and heat shields
- Non-sealed linkages, joints, half- and driveshafts, and U-joints
Subsequent Appointments
After the first appointment, you’ll want to schedule service at Norm Reeves Ford every 10,000 miles or one year, whichever comes first, to have the same maintenance tasks performed.
Throughout the lifespan of your Ford F-150, it will also need the following extra services performed at certain intervals:
- Replace the engine air filter every 30,000 miles.
- Inspect the accessory drive belts every 20,000 miles starting at 100,000 miles.
- Change the orange coolant every 50,000 miles starting at 100,000 miles.
- Replace the accessory drive belts at 150,000 miles.
- Change front axle and rear axle lubricant and transfer case an automatic transmission/transaxle fluid at 150,000 miles.
Special Conditions
The schedule above is for trucks in normal conditions. This means they travel mostly on highways and city streets and tow very light or no loads.
The schedule for those that tow heavy cargo and drive through off-road and rough conditions is slightly different. The services are all the same, but the intervals are shorter to prevent excessive wear and tear.

Preventative Maintenance
Of course routine services aren’t the only way to extend the lifespan of your Ford F-150. Preventative maintenance is also key in preserving its health and enhancing its longevity.
Every month Ford recommends that you check the engine oil level, exterior lights, tires, and windshield washer fluid level. Every six months, you’ll want to check the battery connections, coolant fluid levels, seat belts, and parking break. If you detect an issue during these preventative maintenance inspections, you’ll need to schedule services for your Ford F-150 at Norm Reeves Ford to remedy the problem.
