PERFORMANCE
Ford Expedition

The Ford Expedition and the Chevy Suburban are beasts on the roads. In the belly of each beast is a robust power train that gets you in motion and keeps you in motion. Which one will deliver the performance you crave? Find out below.

Oomph on Board

Both the Chevy Suburban and the Ford Expedition have powerful engines. The Suburban’s standard engine is a 5.3L EcoTec V8 with 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque that’s paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

The Expedition’s standard engine is a bit more powerful. When combined with the 10-speed automatic transmission with SelectShift®, the 3.5L EcoBoost® V6 engine puts out an impressive 380 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. With the SelectShift® automatic transmission, you’ll get optimized gear spacing for better responsiveness and the option to use manual shifting when you want.

Shift Into Stealth Mode

The Ford Expedition is available with a Stealth Performance Edition Package. What does it add? Along with a high-output sport-tuned suspension and dual-exhaust system, this package also upgrades the base engine’s capabilities to 440 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque!

The Chevy Suburban is available with a 6.2L V8 engine that produces 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. While these figures compete with the Expedition’s enhanced engine, they don’t dominate them. Just like the Ford’s package suggests, you’ll experience unmatched stealth and style.

INTERIOR
Ford Expedition

The Expedition and the Suburban have room for the whole fam, all your work buddies, and your best friends. Because these SUVs are deemed carpoolers, it’s only right that each model comes with the space, the convenience, and the entertainment to make the commute fly by.

Convenient Cabins

The Chevy Suburban and the Ford Expedition have plenty of seating for your whole crew and comfortable seats that make the drive pleasant for everyone. Both SUVs also have infotainment systems that offer Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ integration. With this capability, you can stream music, receive navigation directions, and use other apps on the center screen.

The Suburban and the Expedition provide cargo management systems to help organize the more than 100 cubic feet of cargo space behind the first row of both SUVs.

Keep the Kiddos Occupied

The Ford Expedition begins to pull ahead of the Chevy Suburban when it comes to interior amenities. The Expedition offers an available dual-headrest Rear Seat Entertainment System, including Amazon Fire TV. With it, your rear-seat passengers can stream shows, play video games, and listen to music. Unfortunately, the Suburban doesn’t have a similar tech feature.

SAFETY
Ford Expedition

When you’ve got the whole family on board, you want everyone to be protected. Ford and Chevy want this too, which is why both the Expedition and the Suburban equip standard driver-assistance suites.

Standard Safety Suites

To keep you safe while you’re on the go, the Chevy Suburban and the Ford Expedition both have a variety of driver-assistive and safety features beyond airbags.

The Ford Expedition has a driver-assistive and safety suite called Ford Co-Pilot360™. This suite has several standard features that come with every trim of the Expedition and additional available features you can add.

Some of these standard features are:

  • Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking
  • Lane-Keeping System
  • BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) with Trailer Coverage

The Chevy Suburban has a few of the same features, such as Forward Collision Alert and Automatic Emergency Braking. However, some systems, including Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert, are only available in higher trims.

Added Protection

If you’re looking for a vehicle with a full-fledged safety suite, the Expedition is the right model for you. With upgrades, you can have more protection by your side thanks to these available features:

  • Evasive Steering Assist
  • Ford Trail Control™
  • Intersection Assist
  • Pro Trailer Backup Assist 2.0™

While the Suburban has several unique safety features of its own, the Expedition’s available features are one of a kind.
