Explorer Dimensions & Capacities

The Ford Explorer is a spacious SUV that offers enough seating for up to seven passengers over three rows with 152.7 cubic feet of space for the riders. The front row offers 40.7 inches of headroom (38.9 inches with moonroof) and 43 inches of legroom.

The second row includes 40.5 inches of legroom (38.2 inches with moonroof) and 39 inches of legroom. The third row features 38.9 inches of headroom and 32.2 inches of legroom.

The Explorer was designed with adventure in mind because it includes 18.2 cubic feet of cargo space in back. Of course, you can open that space up to accommodate more cargo. By folding the third row flat, there's 47.9 cubic feet of space. Folding down the last two rows will open the back up to 87.8 cubic feet of total cargo space.

Interior Comfort & Convenience

Passengers in each row can dictate their own comfort with the Tri-zone Electronic Automatic Temperature Control. This feature allows each row to put their heating or cooling preferences in. The Explorer interior also offers dome/map lights in all three rows, so it makes lighting up the cabin easy for all the passengers during nighttime driving.

The Ford Explorer interior comes standard with cloth seating appointments. The second row includes the 35/30/35 split, which allows it to be partially folded down, as is the same with the third row 50/50 split bench. You can partially fold the rear seats to make room for longer cargo items while still being able to have passengers in back.

In-Cabin Features & Technology

There's plenty of features and tech within the Ford Explorer cabin. The SYNC® system features a dashboard-mounted touchscreen that allows you to select your media options for the ride. It includes radio, Bluetooth®, and even a USB port for connected media onboard. There's even SiriusXM®, which is offered through a 6-month trial subscription.

The Explorer also includes the FordPass™ Connect 4G LTE Wi-Fi Hotspot. This not only provides a network for all your passengers to connect to, it actually lets you access your Explorer from your phone through an app. You can lock, start, or even locate your vehicle remotely!
