Ford Escape vs. Honda CR-V

Do you want to drive a compact SUV around Cerritos, Long Beach, and Buena Park? Then you'd be in great shape with either the 2019 Ford Escape or Honda CR-V. The only question is, which one is going to give you more of the performance and features that you need?

To help you decide, the team at Norm Reeves Ford Superstore Cerritos compared the 2019 Ford Escape vs. Honda CR-V. Check out what we found and then contact us to schedule a test drive.

Ford Escape vs Honda CR-V Engine Power

If you want plenty of choice when it comes to the engine powering your SUV, you'll probably like that both the Ford Escape and Honda CR-V give you several options. The CR-V lets you choose between two engines while the Ford Escape gives you three to pick from.

Within these, both SUVs have one or more turbocharged engines that give you an extra kick of power. We wanted to look at how much output the Honda CR-V and Ford Escape could give us, so we compared their highest-output turbo I-4 engines.

In the Honda CR-V, this is a 1.5L I-4 engine that delivers 190 horsepower and 179 lb-ft of torque. It can tow a maximum of 1,500 pounds when properly equipped.

The highest-output engine for the Ford Escape was the 2.0L EcoBoost® I-4 that generates 245 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque. Because of its impressive power, it can tow a maximum of 3,500 pounds when properly equipped.

Driver-Assist Features for the Escape vs CR-V

One of the great things about modern cars is that they're often packed full of technologies that can help you be more aware of your surroundings while out on the road. The Ford Escape and Honda CR-V are no exception.

Both vehicles offer an available suite of smart safety features that includes systems like:

  • Blind Spot Monitoring
  • Smart Cruise Control
  • Forward Collision Warning
  • Auto Emergency Braking
  • Automatic High Beams
  • Lane Departure Warning

While these features can help you get where you're going more safely, only the Ford Escape can help you park once you reach your destination. It has an available feature called Enhanced Active Park Assist that can identify an available parallel or perpendicular parking space for you.

Once found, it'll help you park by offering prompts to accelerate, brake, and shift while providing steering assist to cleanly maneuver you into the space.

The Honda CR-V doesn't have a similar feature, so parallel parking on a busy street may be more difficult.

2019 Escape vs CR-V Infotainment Systems

Whether you're driving the 2019 Ford Escape or Honda CR-V, you'll have access to an infotainment system that can keep you entertained, connected, and productive behind the wheel.

Both SUVs have standard Bluetooth® connectivity for making hands-free phone calls or streaming audio from your smartphone through your infotainment system speakers.

They also both make Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ compatibility available. These systems fully integrate your smartphone with your car so that you can access your favorite apps through your touchscreen display. These apps include navigation, phone calls, texting, and music streaming

While the Ford Escape and Honda CR-V both have an available touchscreen display in the center stack, the Ford Escape offers a bit more surface area with the 8-inch color touchscreen that comes with the available SYNC® 3 system. The Honda CR-V, on the other hand, has an available 7-inch touchscreen.
